To make capable our students for grow their extra-ordinary talent which helps to build a community of learners committed to the growth and dissemination of Assamese Language and literature at local, national and global levels.
About Us
The Asomiya Sahitya Chora is a Literary Association under the Assamese Department of Bijni College. It has been constituted on 09-12-1997. The formation and activities of the Asomiya Sahitya Chora is guided by its own constitution. The first president of the Association is Sri Dhirendra Nath Medhi, H.O.D., Assamese Department. The Association’s aims to promote Assamese Literature and Culture among students. All the faculty members and students of Undergraduate Major Course and Post-Graduate become the members of the Association. The Association organizes various literary events, educational tour, Field trips, poem recitation, departmental seminar, workshop etc. The Association also observes various Literary Day; events related with the Assamese Literature. The Association has an executive body belonging the President, General Secretary and Secretaries of different activities etc. The Head of the Department is the ex. officio President and Finance Secretary is only from faculty members from the department. Other executive members are elected by the student where one is faculty members and another is from students. The Executive Body has changed every year in a general meeting of the Association. The Association plays a vital role in promoting Assamese Language and Literature. The Assamese Department through Asomiya Sahitya Chora engages students in a variety of enriching experiences beyond classroom. “SRIJAN” a collection of poems by the students and faculty members of the department has published in every year. The Department has purchased lots of reference books of Assamese Literature and Language every year and Assamese magazine like ‘GARIYOSHI’, ‘SATSARI’, ‘PRAKASH’ in every month. These reference books and magazine play a greater role for the entire students of Assamese Department to enriching their knowledge in Assam as well as their exam also.
