Brief History of the Department

            The department of Philosophy, Bijni College was introduced with the establishment of the College on 21^st July, 1969. At the beginning there were only P.U.(Arts) classes. But in due course of time Degree Part-I and Part-II Classes were introduce from the session 1972-73 and 1974-75 respectively Mr. R.K. Sarma, the founder Lecturer in the Department joint on 01-07-1969. He was acting both as Principal of the College and the Head of the Philosophy Department. The permission for Degree Part – I was affiliated to G.U. in 1972. The Major Course for Part – I was introduced from the session 1998-99. The permission for the same was obtained in the same year. The permission for Degree Part-II was affiliated to G.U. in 1974.

Objectives :

            The main objective of the department is to introduced qualitative and standard education, so that after completion of the under graduate course students will admitted higher education and competitive examination.

Vision & Mission:

            The vision of the department is to impart dynamism of philosophical knowledge of humanity to the students so that they will be able to lead a morally strong and sound character with a broad world-view.
            To enrich and empower the process of teaching and learning as well as the learners in carrying the messages of the great minds of humanity to the society at large.

            The first two was the starting sanction lecturers of the philosophy Department. From third number except six numbers to last number was joint in philosophy department as Contractual basis. The six numbers from the above list was joining in philosophy department as FIP Lien Vacancy in place of Sulabh Ch Das who was going on PhD Degree. Powalmoni Thakutia was the Head of the Philosophy department and he was retired from service on 28-02-2007. Sunite Devee was joining in this department as Asstt. Teacher in Philosophy department and she was retired on 31-01-2006.

Result Analysis:-

1. One student named Aleda Khatun secured highest marks among the arts Stream of Bijni College in 2020.
2. The appeared of the students in final exam are gradually increased.
3. Number of 1^st class position secured is gradually increased except 2023.
4. Both Pass percentage and mark secured percentage of the students are impressive.
