Brief History of the Department

            The Mathematics Department started along with the establishment of the Science Stream on 21^st July, 1994. The Department had obtained permission to open the Under Graduate (UG) course for the session 1994-1995 on 21-10-1997 from Gauhati University. Govt. Concurrence and permanent affiliation from Govt. of Assam and Gauhati University on 22-02-2001 and on 13-08-2009 respectively. The Department has introduced Major Course in UG Level from the session 2003-2004 and obtained the permission from Gauhati University against the Vide Letter No. Memo No.GU/AFF/2004/1272-75 dated 13-10-2004. The Department has Govt. concurrence for UG Level Major course from Govt. of Assam Vide Letter No. AHE 253/06/48 dated 5-12-2008 from the session. The Department has affiliated to Bodoland University from the session 2020-2021 after disaffiliated from Gauhati University according to State Govt. Resolution. At present the Department offers both Honours/Major and Regular/Minor in UG Level. The Department also has been running H.S. courses under AHSEC, Assam since 2009 session.
            Mr. Krishna Gogoi was the first man to join the Department on 3^rd September, 1994. However, on 6^th January, 1995, he subsequently departed the college. The second man, Mr. Bipul Chakraborty, began working for the department on 1^st February, 1995, and left on 8^th February, 1996. Mr. Mahizur Rahman joined the Department on 1^st November, 1995 and is presently serving as the Head of Department following Bipul Chakraborty’s resignation. Mr. Rousan Ali Ahmed joined on 20^th August, 1996 as a faculty member and he left on 28^th November, 1997. Mr. Kallol Nath was the next individual to join the department on 23^rd October, 1998 and he resigned on 9^th August, 1999. On the 1^st December, 2000, Mr. Abdul Kader Hussain joined the Department and is presently serving as the second man. Dr. Prasanta Das is presently working as a third man. He joined the department on 4th December, 2000.

Departmental Objectives :

1. To promote Mathematical skills and knowledge in developing proficiency in analytical analysis.
2.  To organise seminar, workshops, group discussion etc. for upliftment Teaching-Learning process.
3. To assist the slow learners through personal guidance and special care.
4. To set up a Departmental Book Bank.

Departmental Mission :

1. To afford Mathematical skills and knowledge among the learners to sustain in the present global scenario.
2. To increase student strength and improve quality education.

Departmental Vision :

1. To popularize Mathematics among the students.
2. To create an Excellent Mathematics Study Centre.
